ABSTRACT

As the corona virus can mutate and due to other scientific factor associated to it, experts believe that COVID-19 will remain with us for decades. Therefore, one has to keep social distancing measures. Accepting the pandemic situation, the paper presents a mechanism for detecting violations of social distancing using deep learning to estimate the distance between individuals to diminish the influence of COVID-19. The focus of this paper is to understand the effect of social distancing on the spread of COVID-19 by using YOLOv3 and Faster-RCNN and proposes IFRCNN (improved faster region convolution neural network). The proposed method IFRCNN is checked on a live streaming video of pedestrians walking on the street. This paper keeps the live updates of the recorded video along with social distancing violation records on a location, so how many people in a location are maintaining social distancing. Updates will be stored in a cloud-based storage system and any organization or firm can get live updates of that location in their digital devices.

ABSTRACT

The Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic wreaked havoc on almost all aspects of life and has undeniably altered the landscape of the world forever. In the medical profession, everything from education to scheduling operations was affected. Educational events such as conferences, Continuing Medical Education (CME) and other events had to be converted into virtual conferences and meetings. However, now that the pandemic is slowly coming to an end and countries and borders have started to reopen, the question now remains-should we go back to our old ways or has this become the new normal? This review discusses the advantages and limitations of conducting virtual events and discusses future trends of holding such events in these uncertain times.

ABSTRACT

In late December 2019, a new strain of coronavirus disease was first discovered in Wuhan, China. In 2020, the virus became a global epidemic after just a few months. On May 2020, the World Health Organization (WHO) declared the outbreak as pandemic. The statistics by World Health Organization on 24th February 2021 confirm more than 115 million infected people and 2.5 million deaths in 200 countries. The scientists have developed the vaccines only a few months ago, before that the best way to avoid the spread ofCOVID-19 was to maintain a few feet physical distance from one another. Social distancing was one amongst the recommended remedies by the World Health Organization (WHO) to minimize the spread of COVID-19 in public areas. Government bodies and authorities have made the 6 feet social distance in public and enclosed areas such as school, shopping malls and transport facilities as mandatory. Even after so much effort from the government and World Health Organization, people do not maintain social distancing which leads to constant rise in the number of infected people. The models and methods proposed in this paper focus of automatic monitoring of social distancing, the models will be able to detect the distance between two people and raise the alarm if social distancing is not maintained.

ABSTRACT

The pandemic crisis of COVID-19 has brought significant attention towards increasing natural defense mechanism i.e. immunity in order to fight emerging new species of micro-organism. Natural ways to improve immunity include two major components, regular exercise and nutrient diet. The former is physical process and also demand the later and hence healthy nutritional diet can be claimed as basis for improving natural immunity. There are numerous plants and vegetables which can be used in diet however, few vegetables are most common around the globe. These immunomodulator dietary vegetables used as foods can be a promising preventive tool against infectious diseases such as COVID-19. Present work was undertaken in view of a review to present the commonly utilizable 17 vegetables and their nutritional information. The study was done based on gist of selected previous works and established nutritional facts related to selected dietary vegetables, their nutrition profile and its relation with immunity. The 17 vegetables are rich source of Calories, Carbohydrate, Protein, Vitamins such as A, D, B12, C, and B6;micronutrients such as Calcium, Sodium, Potassium, Iron, and Magnesium. All these vegetables have very less fat and no Cholesterol, which insures their health stimulating effect. Based on availability, use of these vegetables in alternate way can help to ensure supplementation of essential nutrients to boost natural immunity.

ABSTRACT

There have been so many pandemics since human civilization. COVID-19 is currently causing a world pandemic, and the pandemic related crises have caused enormous negative impacts on both wealth and health globally. Ayurveda, an ancient medical treatise of human civilization, describes some basic principles as tenets of Pandemics in the name of its causes, the effect on human’s health and its management which are same as contemporary sci-ence. There is no specific text as epidemiology in Ayurveda, but according to contemporary theories of epidemiology the principles described in it can be compiled, analyzed, and interpreted. Internet-based search engines revealed that there is very little work done in the field of Ayurveda for epidemiology. Hence, an attempt has been made to analyze basic principles of Ayurveda and epidemiology which can cause pandemics and thus interpret their contemporary significance. This article will also explore the literature for the basic concepts and history of pandemics in the light of Ayurveda and contemporary sciences.

ABSTRACT

Infectious diseases are the disorders caused by pathogenic organisms which are scary because most of us don’t have the sufficient knowledge about them. They are scarier because they can be dangerous and may lead to loss of life. We think about them only if we are health care workers or it happens to ourselves and our close ones. Immunity plays vital role in prevention of etiopathological mechanism of the formation of diseases. Significant role of free radicals in initiating as well as improving immunity to minimize the diseases is major point of focus behind utilization of Anti-oxidant and rejuvenation therapy. Ayurveda has mentioned similar principles under the heading of Rasayana. Present work is a review based on the previous published articles, recent updates regarding prevention of COVID-19 according to World Health Organization, Ayurveda aspect towards prevention of infectious diseases using antioxidant herbs and yoga practices. There are numerous antioxidant herbs and yoga Asanas but the specific mentioned seems to be more useful in developing immunity. The mentioned ayurvedic herbs may prove more useful in developing immunity.

ABSTRACT

Infection causing microbes spread through the air, water, contaminated food, cloth, equipment or from infected person to healthy one. The evidence collected on spreading mode of COVID-19 is mostly through skin contact and respiratory droplets. However, just in contact with the microbe is not enough to cause the disease. Reaching the germ to the internal body is the critical step involved in the manifestation of illness. Contact transmission for the sign of disease in an individual can occur from skin to the inner body especially when the infected part (mostly hands) reaches the mucous membrane of open cavi-ties such as mouth, nose, eyes or open wound. Therefore the use of good quality sanitizers to prevent infections such as COVID-19 is one of the critical mea-sures.Ayurveda is a rich source of vast information on therapeutic potentials of numerous herbs. Many simple to complex formulations can be prepared by using the therapeutic attributes of these herbs. Therefore in the present work, an attempt has been made to initiate the manufacturing of Ayurveda hand san-itizers based on various Ayurvedic medicated drugs mentioned in Samhitas, as developing countries such as India are facing a shortage of hand sanitizers which is a must prevent the spread of COVID-19. The shortage has resulted in an internal price hike, and thus there is a need for a homemade affordable way of sanitizing hands. Therefore by using a combination of antimicrobial, disin-fectant, anti-allergic, skin disease curing herbs along can be recommended for the preparation of Ayurveda hand sensitizers. By using similar herbs, nasal spray and aerosols for cleaning and increasing the strength of the respiratory tract can also be prepared.

ABSTRACT

Evolution is a continuous process of changes in structural and physiological mechanism in the living being. Microbes/pathogens can evolve naturally or artificially and become resistant to various medicines. The novel corona virus is such evolved pathogen of corona virus group. Enough strong immunity is needed to prevent or survive from COVID-19 pandemic. Ayurveda provides ways for evolving physiological responses to built immunity. Present work is a brief attempt to increase insight in this filed. Present review was done based on the simple theory of evolution, recent updates regarding prevention of COVID-19, Ayurveda aspect toward infectious diseases and Ayurveda ways towards prevention of infectious diseases with special reference to COVID-19. Person with impaired immunity is more susceptible for COVID-19 and thus immunity is an important preventing factor. Ayurveda Rasayana (rejuvenation) herbs, Yoga exercises, Pranayama (special breathing exercise), daily regimens and personal hygiene guidelines can be helpful strategies in controlling the spread of COVID-19. The preventive aspects of pandemic situations are narrated in Ayurveda with enough details. They need to be scientifically explored and refined for precision. As prevention is always better than cure, Ayurveda ways can be considered for future strategies to avoid pandemics such as COVID-19. There is a great need for research on Ayurveda medicines on COVID-19 like diseases. Copyright © 2020, J. K. Welfare and Pharmascope Foundation. All rights reserved.
